There's no denying that London is one of the most coveted locations for special events and parties. From glamorous venues to the most talented suppliers, London never disappoints. And when sustainability takes the centre stage, just like in this 60th birthday party, it only gets better. We were honoured to design and plan this party at The Belgravia for a client who wanted to create a celebration with a purpose.
Living For Tomorrow's team pulled out all the stops to make this party one to remember. The suppliers at this event were London's most creative and luxurious, ensuring that every detail was taken care of. Sustainability was at the forefront of this party, with flowers that were hired in, and then re-used, those that couldn’t be were dropped off at the clients house the next morning for her to plant and gift to family and friends, hired in furniture, and seed paper food and drink menus. Living For Tomorrow even went a step further by off-setting the carbon footprint of the entire event, making sure this celebration was not just enjoyable but helping to reforest the planet. The beautiful outside terraces that look out over Buckingham Palace were adorned with lanterns, seating areas, and atmospheric candles, giving guests a wonderful opportunity to take in a warm summers evening in London.
Guests flew in from all over the world, some as far as New Zealand, which was the birthplace of the client. This aspect was reflected in the design concept of the party, which was based on "New Zealand meets Tulum." The wicker lantern installations transported guests to tropical beaches while the huge floral installation of white sweet peas, passionflower plants, and bougainvillaea plants added a touch of New Zealand. The centrepiece, a circular bar, had a ceiling of hanging lanterns covering the entire diameter.
The food was sumptuous, at one end of the room was a Sushi pop up station with chefs assembling the sushi in front of guests, a Poke bowl station with so many different options to choose from, passed canapes and bowl foods as well as dessert, vegan chocolate truffles - the list just goes on! Guests enjoyed mezcal margaritas, champagne, tequila espresso martinis and so much more.
One of the highlights of the evening was the Haka performance. The client being from New Zealand meant that the Haka holds a special place in their heart. The Living For Tomorrow team worked with indigenous New Zealand dancers in London to curate a customised Haka performance that brought all the guests to their feet, and our client to tears! It was a really moving, emotive experience for all that attended the evening. After the performance, the group stayed and mingled with guests, their outfits were so striking and imaginative, they added another dimension to the evening that made it feel even more special.
The evening was nothing short of chic and glamorous, thanks to our amazing Living For Tomorrow team and the incredible suppliers they booked. From the curated drinks menu to the lively music, every aspect of the party was designed with sophistication in mind. Sustainability and luxury went hand in hand, making this event a testament to the fact that eco-friendliness can exist alongside elegance and luxury. The dance floor was also a focal point, with beautiful mirrored flooring and decadent hanging glitter balls reflecting shimmering light off all the revellers as they boogied the night away to the sensational all female entertainment band. The music really catered to all ages, which was something that was really important to our client. She wanted everyone on that dance floor until the early hours of the morning! Which we definitely achieved.
Celebrations are not only about joy and happiness, but they can also serve a bigger purpose. This 60th birthday party at The Belgravia venue was a testament to the fact that sustainability and luxury can work together to create an unforgettable event. Living For Tomorrow's team of experts curated a party that not only reflected the client's personality but also made a statement. As clients and future clients continue to plan events, it is important to remember that luxury and sustainability can coexist beautifully.
